New Decision 14-3/0.5 changes the governing bodies’ sanction of the use of distance measuring devices, including GPS based systems and laser rangefinders by allowing a committee to permit the use of distance measuring devices by Local Rule.

We are more than happy to hear this news as we believe that everybody can get accurate distances today by using a Yardage Book, the Distances on the Sprinklers and counting Steps. The use of electronic devices will not bring any irregular advantage to the Player but will only make the game faster. Because of that we are very positive, that most Committees will amend their local rules accordingly.
