Settings GPS Advanced Options
|
Here you can change
advanced Settings related to your GPS device such if you want to use the
NMEA or Sirf protocol. Not all the Options are available with all GPS
Devices, please contact your Device Manufacturer for Details. Also, not
all GPS Devices store all Settings in their Memory, so make sure to
apply your desired Settings each time you connect to your GPS Device.
- Use the Protocol dropdown to
switch between the NMEA and Sirf Protocol. Using the Sirf Protocol
has the advantage that you can activate Power Saving. The Protocol
is stored within the Device, if you use other Applications with your
GPS Device that do not support the Sirf Protocol, make sure you
switch back to NMEA before closing the Mobile Golf Scorer™
- Check the Save Energy box to
switch your Device into a Power saving mode (technically called Trickle
Power Mode). This results in fewer GPS measurements taken but leads
to lower energy consumption. This setting is only available when
using the Sirf protocol.
- Check the Automatically
reconnect to GPS box to automatically try to reconnect to the
GPS device in case the connection is lost. This is helpful with
Bluetooth GPS devices in case the GPS and the Pocket PC are so far
away from each other that the connection is temporarily lost
- Check the Avoid static Positions
box if you have the problem that your GPS Coordinates do not change
even when you move a little. This Feature (technically called Static
Navigation), while being desirable when navigating in a car, is extremely
bad for Golf, as Golfers move slowly and want very exact Positions.
This setting is only available when using the Sirf protocol.
- Use the Set Frequency to
dropdown to change the Frequency the GPS Device sends Positions to
the Mobile Golf Scorer™. If your Pocket PC runs extremely slow or
becomes irresponsive, your GPS Device might send too much
information to handle. The default Frequency is one Message a
Second.
When changing a Setting you can see the
progress of the change in the Progress of Setting Box.
The Delay in Processing Box shows how many Bytes of information
that the GPS Device sends are still not interpreted by the Mobile Golf
Scorer™. If that value is constantly high, reduce the Frequency of the
Messages.
The Message Frequency Box shows the present Frequency of Messages
received from the GPS Device. Al value of 2 would be one message each 2
Seconds.
The Status Box shows the last message received from the GPS
Device.
Tap on the Exit button to leave
the Advanced Options.
