Courses Database - Import KML File

Here you can import GPS Positions from a Google Earth KML File. Doing so, you can GPS calibrate your Course at home using the Satellite Images.

In Google Earth, create a new Place mark for each GPS Position using CTRL-N. The Best is, that you put all Place marks for your Course into one Folder under My Places in Google Earth. In order to associate the Place marks automatically to the Holes, put the Number of the Hole first, then the Name of the GPS Position (e.g. "2 Water Hazard" or "10 Fairway Bunker"). In order to determine which Place marks are the Greens, name these Place marks Hole Number Start of Green (e.g. "7 Start of Green"). Once you have defined all your GPS Positions in Google Earth, right click on the Folder you have stored the Place marks in and select Save As. Make sure you choose the Format KML.

After having selected the KML File, you can see at the Top of the Window how many GPS Positions have been imported and a List of all these Positions:

  • Use the Checkbox at the left of each line to determine if you want to import this GPS Position or not

  • You can see the original Name of the Place mark in each line

  • Use the Edit-Boxes under Hole in each Line to define which Hole the Place mark belongs to

  • Use the Checkbox under Green to define the Place mark to be the Start of the Green

You can use the Scrollbar at the right to scroll through all Place marks.

In case you followed the naming conventions for the Place marks, all Settings should be automatically accurate.

Check Hole Images from GE in order to import not only the Coordinates, but also a Satellite Image for the Holes. Check Replace next to that, to import an Image for each of the Holes, leave Replace unchecked to import Images only for Holes which do not have an Image yet.

Check Replace in order to Replace GPS Coordinates of those Positions that already exists and have the same Name than a Position which is being imported. If Replace is left unchecked, Positions will be added even if Positions with the same name already exist.

In Order to to start the Import, Tap on OK. After the Import, the Positions of the imported GPS Positions should be positioned on the Yardage Book Image by using the Pos Button in the GPS Calibrate Yardage Book Function which can be accessed from the Yardage Book Images of the Holes.

To abort, tap on Cancel.
