Here you can GPS calibrate
your Course at home using Google Earth:
When invoking the function, Google Earth starts and a new
Folder with the name of your Course is created under Temporary Places.
In case you have a rather slow PC or the Google Earth Database is very
slow, it can happen that the Folder is not automatically created. In
that case, you will see a warning. Simply wait, until Google Earth is
stated completely and reselect the Function.
At the upper right of the Screen you will see a small
Window which is the Google Earth Calibration Wizard. You will use this
Wizard to Name and create all the Placemarks for your Course. You should
create Placemarks for each of the Points which are relevant for your
Game: the Tees, Bunkers, Water Hazards, Out of Bounds and of Course the
Green.
Before starting the Wizard, select the Folder of your
Course under Places in Google Earth. The Folder must be
selected (shown with a color in the Background) in order for the new
Placemarks to end up in the right Place.
In the Wizard, you can
After using the Icon the new Placemark
Window of Google Earth will pop up and you will see the Name of the new
Placemark being a combination of the Hole, Position and Detail that you
selected previously. You will also see a new flashing yellow Pin
in Google Earth. Now, click on the flashing pin and drag the Pin
to the Spot on top of the Satellite Image that corresponds to the
Position you want to calibrate. If you are done with dragging, click on
OK in the new Placemark Window.
If you want to edit either
Position or Name of a Placemark, right click on the Pin and select
Properties. In the Window coming up, you can edit the Name of the
Placemark or drag the pin of the Placemark around.
However, when editing the Names, it is
very important, in order to associate the Place marks automatically to
the Holes, to put the Number of the Hole first, then the Name of the GPS
Position (e.g. "2 Water Hazard" or "10 Fairway Bunker"). Also, the
Placemarks being the Start of the Green must be named Hole Number Start
of Green (e.g. "7 Start of Green").
Also you have to make sure that the names
of the Placemarks are unique, you must not name two Placemarks
identically.
Once you have defined all your GPS Positions in Google
Earth, right click on the Folder the Place marks are stored in and
select Save As. Make sure you choose the Format KML and to remember the
location and Name of the KML File.
You can close the Wizard by clicking on the Icon.
Back in Mobile Golf Scorer™, you can use Import GPS
from KML to import the KML
File you just created.
